‘Sober Blackout’, is a multidisciplinary experience bursting with baby colour paintings under rough text, self portrait digital collages and a site specific performance to narrate a story written by the artist during a sober period after a compulsive ‘unhealthy’ breakout with alcohol and drugs. All happening in what Charlene would call as a ‘bingeing experience’ of overdoing and not wanting to stop. The narration is a long monologue of opening up as well to the past whilst Tina Camilleri introduce sounds of healing through techno.
Can tragedy lead to comedy through the right reflective process and the honest sharing of the inner dark thoughts? The performance is collaborated with Sean Bacicia, an audio visual artist, inspired from thought provoking and experimental works to fuel the production of the performance through light and sound.
