BODYSUITS,
PRESENTED IN GALERIE ARENA, ARLES AND IN SPLENDID, MALTA
PERFORMANCE PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMPROVISED PERFORMANCE
The work consisted in inviting several girls into construction sites in Malta (which are Male dominated) and allow the several female bodies dressed in Bodysuits to perform and use the space like the playground. Some of the images have transformed into collages. These 'fashion performative' shoots explore how the human body can live in areas where is progress and development. This includes lack of space which allows the body to move freely and use the space as recreative space. The work has been show both in Arles for the collaborative exhibition 'Remnant' and as well in Malta for the pop up exhibition 'Hudha'. In 'Hudha' each artist brough forward their own statement based current environmental situation in Malta. Ħudha is a representation of the collective sentiment of the 'take what you want' attitude in relation to the local environmental consciousness. During this pop up exhibition I have performed an improvised performance called 'Sit on my playground'
